EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -On the death of President Abraham Lincoln As a crime it was unexampled and beyond execration. It was a crime that no good man could approve from any conceivable motive.

Concept note-2: -On April 22, 1865, Brevet Colonel H. L. Burnett was assigned to head the investigation into the murder of President Abraham Lincoln and the attempted murder of Secretary of State William H. Seward. Burnett orchestrated the collection of thousands of documents for the Military Commission’s trial of the conspirators.

Concept note-3: -John Wilkes Booth fled after shooting U.S. Pres. Abraham Lincoln. During the massive manhunt he was discovered by Federal troops while hiding in the barn of a Virginia farm.

Concept note-4: -On April 18, Lincoln’s body was carried to the Capitol rotunda to lay in state on a catafalque. Three days later, his remains were boarded onto a train that conveyed him to Springfield, Illinois, where he had lived before becoming president.
