Concept note-1: -Both have to give something up for it to be a compromise. If only one side is giving something up, it’s a concession. Allan had always seen it as unilateral, that “compromise” and “concession” could be used interchangeably.
Concept note-2: -Concessions are an exchange of promises between negotiators through which they reach a mutually acceptable compromise.
Concept note-3: -A concession refers to a deviation in an offer towards the other party’s interest, thus reducing the expected benefits. In a negotiation, a party must be willing to give a concession to get one in return. Concessions generally bring both parties into the zone of potential agreement (ZOPA).
