The South won every major Civil War battle until

(A) ** the Battle of Antietam.

(B) the Battle of Chancellorsville.

(C) the Second Battle of Bull Run.

EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -The Union won the Battle of Antietam. The Confederates lost 10, 700 troops to the Union’s 12, 400, but the Union expelled them from the battlefield and put an end to the Confederate invasion. Hence, option (A) is the accurate one.

Concept note-2: -Most importantly, Union victory at Antietam provided President Abraham Lincoln the opportunity he had wanted to announce the Emancipation Proclamation, making the Battle of Antietam one of the key turning points of the American Civil War.

Concept note-3: -Answer and Explanation: The South, also known as the Confederacy, won 10 of the 23 major battles throughout the 4 years of the war from 1861 to 1865. Also, three battles were considered a draw. Though the North won in the end, the Confederacy won about the same number of major battles.
