Concept note-1: -Answer and Explanation: The Battle of Stalingrad took place in the European theatre. The European theatre was divided into the Western and Eastern Front. The Battle of Stalingrad was on the Eastern Front and was fought from July 17, 1942 to February 2, 1943.

Concept note-2: -The Eastern Theatre was the scene of several key battles. These included the First Battle of Bull Run, the bloody Battle of Antietam and the greatest battle, the Battle of Gettysburg. Only 100 miles separated the two capital cities, Washington, D.C. the Union capital and the Confederate capital at Richmond, Virginia.

Concept note-3: -The Eastern Theater of the American Civil War ran from southern Pennsylvania to Virginia’s North Carolina border and from Chesapeake Bay to the mountains west of the Shenandoah Valley. It included the first big battle at Bull Run, the deadliest single day at Antietam, and the greatest battle of the war at Gettysburg.

Concept note-4: -The Battleof Vicksburg, fought from May 18-July 4th 1863 was a major siege in the western theatre of operations that together with the Battle of Gettysburg (which was fought at the same time in the East) was considered a major turning point in the Civil War.

Concept note-5: -The major corridor of Civil War in the Eastern Theater stretched from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania southward to the Petersburg, Virginia.
