Concept note-1: -The First Manassas or Bull Run resulted in thousands of lives lost and is referred to as the first major land battle of the American Civil war. It was also highly crucial as two inexperienced armies fought on the battlefield for the first time.

Concept note-2: -Bull Run was the first full-scale battle of the Civil War. The fierce fight there forced both the North and South to face the sobering reality that the war would be long and bloody.

Concept note-3: -Johnston’s army, stationed in the Shenandoah Valley with 10, 000 Confederate troops, were ordered to support Beauregard. Johnston gave an opposing Union army the slip and, employing the Manassas Gap Railroad, started his brigades toward Manassas Junction, with most arriving July 20 and 21.

Concept note-4: -During the Civil War, Manassas Junction was strategically important to both the Union and the Confederacy as a supply depot and for military transportation.
