Concept note-1: -Historian John Fiske argued that English-speaking nations had superior character, ideas, and systems of government. Many Americans linked his ideas, known as Anglo-Saxonism, with the idea of Manifest Destiny. These Americans believed the nation was destined to expand overseas to spread its civilization to others.

Concept note-2: -John Fiske stated that English-speaking nations had superior character, ideas, and systems of government, and were destined to dominate the planet. This idea is known as Anglo-Saxonism. Many Americans saw this as part of Manifest Destiny-to expand to the Pacific Ocean…and now overseas.

Concept note-3: -Advocates of imperialism believed that the Anglo-Saxon race were naturally superior to other racial groups. Thus, Americans and other Anglo-Saxon nations had a duty to spread their power through military and economic means over ‘’inferior” nations in Africa and Asia.

Concept note-4: -Americans linked Fiske’s ideas, called Anglo-Saxonism, with the idea of Manifest Destiny. Many Americans believed they needed to expand over the Pacific Ocean and spread their culture.
