Concept note-1: -Imperialism. Imperialism occurs when a strong nation takes over a weaker nation or region and dominates its economic, political, or cultural life. This type of foreign policy was practiced by European nations and Japan throughout the 1800s and early 1900s.
Concept note-2: -Colonialism is defined as “control by one power over a dependent area or people.” It occurs when one nation subjugates another, conquering its population and exploiting it, often while forcing its own language and cultural values upon its people.
Concept note-3: -Imperialism is when one country exercises power over another through various methods of control. It describes an economic, political, and social system in which one country subjugates others, and brings them under its control.
Concept note-4: -A colony is a country or area under the full or partial political control of another country, typically a distant one, and occupied by settlers from that country.
Concept note-5: -The Open Door policy-first initiated in 1899, with a follow-up missive in 1900-was significant in its attempt by the United States to establish an international protocol of equal privileges for all countries trading with China and to support China’s territorial and administrative integrity.
