AMERICAN IMPERIALISM

[SOURCES]
The closing of the frontier and the growth of industry in the late 1800s are two factors often associated with the

(A) reduction of exports to Asian nations

(B) restoration of a plantation economy in the South

(C) formation of alliances with other nations

(D) ** rise of United States imperialism

EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -The three reasons the US expanded overseas was for economical power in overseas markets, to civilized non white nations like the Europeans did during the birth of America, and because the frontier was closed and Americans wanted to expand their influence.

Concept note-2: -Because the Industrial Revolution increased the production capacity of Western states astronomically, there was an enormous hunger for raw materials to satisfy demands. Thus, the Western powers sought colonies where raw materials were abundant and where they could be appropriated at little to no cost.

Concept note-3: -Both a desire for new markets for its industrial products and a belief in the racial and cultural superiority of Americans motivated the United States’ imperial mission.
