Concept note-1: -On March 15, under orders from President Wilson, U.S. Brigadier General John J. Pershing launched a punitive expedition into Mexico to capture or kill Villa and disperse his rebels. The expedition eventually involved some 10, 000 U.S. troops and personnel.

Concept note-2: -The task of capturing Villa was given to U.S. Army General John J. Pershing. Pershing’s forces entered Mexico, but failed to capture Villa.

Concept note-3: -President Woodrow Wilson ordered Brigadier General John J. Pershing, to lead a “Punitive Expedition” of U.S. troops into Mexico in pursuit of Villa and his band. Among the troops crossing into Mexico were the 10th Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers commanded by Colonel William Brown.

Concept note-4: -He served most famously as the commander of the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) on the Western Front during World War I, from 1917 to 1918.

Concept note-5: -Pershing was the Commander of the American Expeditionary Force in World War I and led the United States, along with our Allies, to victory in that war. His contribution to American military preparedness in the future was also very significant.
