EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -M Militarism-this was where countries built up their armies. Each country tried to compete to build the biggest army. This created a lot of rivalry and tension and it made countries suspicious of each other. They wanted to test their armies and prove they were the best in a war.

Concept note-2: -What is an example of militarism today? An example of militarism today is witnessed in North Korea, which still spends heavily on military power to ensure the country’s stability. The country has strong military parades and capacity, which influences the economic and political aspects of the country.

Concept note-3: -Militarism can variously be understood as: an ideology glorifying war; the propensity to use force; military buildup; excessive influence (of either the institution of the military or of the military–industrial complex (MIC)); or the influence of military relations on social relations in general.

Concept note-4: -Militarism was a major factor in causing WW I because the major powers of Europe were continuously competing for military supremacy by stockpiling weapons, engaging in a naval race, and constructing elaborate battle plans that made the war possible.
