EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -President Woodrow Wilson was the primary architect of the League of Nations, an international peacekeeping organization that was the centerpiece of the Treaty of Versailles. The Senate rejected the treaty for ratification, and the United States never joined the League of Nations.

Concept note-2: -The defeated countries-Germany and allies Austria-Hungary, Turkey and Bulgaria-weren’t invited to participate. In the end the Allies agreed that they would punish Germany and attempt to weaken that nation so much that it wouldn’t pose a future threat.

Concept note-3: -The real German objection to the Treaty of Versailles, however, was to the infamous Article 231, which forced Germany to accept sole blame for the war in order to justify the reparations.

Concept note-4: -The Treaty of Versailles officially ended military actions against Germany in World War I and created the League of Nations, an international organization designed to preserve peace. President Woodrow Wilson, who led the U.S. delegation to the Paris Peace Conference in 1919, was a principal architect of the League.
