Concept note-1: -Triple Entente, association between Great Britain, France, and Russia, the nucleus of the Allied Powers in World War I.
Concept note-2: -Each nation pledged to fight if any of its allies were attacked. One alliance included Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy, called the Triple Alliance. Opposing them was the Triple Entente of France, Russia and England. These complex tensions finally exploded into war.
Concept note-3: -Triple Entente included England, France and Russia. The Triple Alliance included Austria-Hungary, Germany and Italy. Italy switched its side to the Triple Entente to join with England, France and Russia later during the war.
Concept note-4: -Dual Alliance, also called Franco-Russian Alliance, a political and military pact that developed between France and Russia from friendly contacts in 1891 to a secret treaty in 1894; it became one of the basic European alignments of the pre-World War I era.
Concept note-5: -Included the Triple Entente (France, Great Britain, and Russia) as well as secondary members Japan, Belgium, Serbia, Greece, Montenegro, Romania, and the Czechoslovak legions.
