EXPLANATIONS BELOW
Concept note-1: -It was the first international organization whose principal mission was to maintain world peace. Its primary goals as stated in its Covenant included preventing wars through collective security and disarmament and settling international disputes through negotiation and arbitration.
Concept note-2: -The League of Nations (1920 – 1946) was the first intergovernmental organization established “to promote international cooperation and to achieve international peace and security”.
Concept note-3: -The League of Nations effectively resolved some international conflicts but failed to prevent the outbreak of the Second World War.
Concept note-4: -Unfortunately, the League failed miserably in its intended goal: to prevent another world war from happening (WW2 broke out only two decades later). The idea was for the League of Nations to prevent wars through disarmament, collective security, and negotiation.
Concept note-5: -The creation of the League was a centrepiece of Wilson’s Fourteen Points for Peace, specifically the final point: “A general association of nations must be formed under specific covenants for the purpose of affording mutual guarantees of political independence and territorial integrity to great and small states alike."
