Concept note-1: -World War I was fought between the Central Powers comprising Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, the Ottoman Empire; and the Allied Powers comprising Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, and Romania.

Concept note-2: -The Allies, or the Entente powers, were an international military coalition of countries led by the United Kingdom, France, Russia, Italy, Japan, and the United States against the Central Powers of Germany, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, Bulgaria during the First World War (1914–1918).

Concept note-3: -In World War II, the three great Allied powers-Great Britain, the United States, and the Soviet Union-formed a Grand Alliance that was the key to victory.

Concept note-4: -The war pitted the Central Powers-mainly Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Turkey-against the Allies-mainly France, Great Britain, Russia, Italy, Japan, and, from 1917, the United States. It ended with the defeat of the Central Powers.
