Concept note-1: -The House concurred two days later. The United States later declared war on German ally Austria-Hungary on December 7, 1917. Germany’s resumption of submarine attacks on passenger and merchant ships in 1917 became the primary motivation behind Wilson’s decision to lead the United States into World War I.

Concept note-2: -April 6, 1917: Two days after the U.S. Senate voted 82 to 6 to declare war against Germany, the U.S. House of Representatives endorses the declaration by a vote of 373 to 50, and America formally enters World War I.

Concept note-3: -The United States entered into World War I in April 1917, more than two and a half years after the war began in Europe.

Concept note-4: -America Declares War on Germany On April 2, 1917, Wilson went before a special joint session of Congress and asked for a declaration of war against Germany, stating: “The world must be made safe for democracy.” On April 4, the Senate voted 82 to 6 to declare war.
