EXPLANATIONS BELOW
Concept note-1: -In total, 63 states became members of the League of Nations (with at most 60 at the same time), which represents a great majority of the states existing at that time. However, the League never succeeded to become a truly universal organization.
Concept note-2: -At its greatest extent from 28 September 1934 to 23 February 1935, it had 58 members.
Concept note-3: -The Council consisted of permanent and non-permanent members. In 1920, the four permanent members were the British Empire, France, Italy, and Japan.
Concept note-4: -Articles 2–5 created the directing organs of the League: an Assembly composed of representatives of all members and a Council composed of representatives of the United States, Great Britain, France, Italy, and Japan as permanent members, with four others elected by the Assembly.
