Concept note-1: -The League’s goals included disarmament, preventing war through collective security, settling disputes between countries through negotiation diplomacy and improving global welfare.
Concept note-2: -The League lacked its own armed force and depended on the victorious First World War Allies (Britain, France, Italy and Japan were the permanent members of the Executive Council) to enforce its resolutions, keep to its economic sanctions, or provide an army when needed.
Concept note-3: -The League of Nations was formed to prevent a repetition of the First World War, but within two decades this effort failed. Economic depression, renewed nationalism, weakened successor states, and feelings of humiliation (particularly in Germany) eventually contributed to World War II.
