Concept note-1: -Many historians believe that if America had joined the League, there would have been a lot more support in preventing conflicts. Other major powers such as Germany and the Soviet Union were not allowed to join.
Concept note-2: -What would have happened if the US joined the League of Nations? Nothing. The seeds of the second world war were sown in the Treaty of Versailles.
Concept note-3: -Among the major differences are the rule of unanimity at the League of Nations versus the rule of the majority at the UN or the UN Security Council’s competence to take binding decisions under certain circumstances.
Concept note-4: -The United Nations (UN), formed in 1945, addressed some of the larger problems of the League of Nations. For example, the UN has the ability to deploy a military force. In addition to peacekeeping efforts, it also makes decisions on human rights and economic policies.
Concept note-5: -Most historians hold that the League operated much less effectively without U.S. participation than it would have otherwise. However, even while rejecting membership, the Republican Presidents of the period, and their foreign policy architects, agreed with many of its goals.
