Concept note-3: -After some notable successes and some early failures in the 1920s, the League ultimately proved incapable of preventing aggression by the Axis powers in the 1930s.

Concept note-4: -It was the first international organization whose principal mission was to maintain world peace. Its primary goals, as stated in its Covenant, included preventing wars through collective security and disarmament and settling international disputes through negotiation and arbitration.

Concept note-5: -But despite its peace keeping agenda the league failed in preventing another war due to the following reasons: Major powers such as the USA, Soviet Russia and Germany were not part of the league. This limited the international scope of the organisation working on behalf of all member nations.
