Concept note-1: -Failures in 1920s: The League failed to bring about disarmament and also to solve several problems. These failures included: Vilna, 1920, Russo-Polish War 1920-21, Greece vs. Turkey 1920-21, Memel 1923, the occupation of Ruhr 1923, Corfu Incident 1923. The League often failed to carry the self-determination policy out.

Concept note-2: -Soviet Russia and the USA were not a part of the League of Nations. The League of Nations was an organisation formed based on 14 points presented by the then American President Woodrow Wilson during the Paris Peace Process on January 10, 1920.

Concept note-3: -It began with four permanent members – Great Britain, France, Italy, and Japan – and four non-permanent members that were elected by the Assembly for a three-year term. The first non-permanent members were Belgium, Brazil, Greece, and Spain.

Concept note-4: -The League of Nations ruled against Italy and voted for economic sanctions, but they were never fully applied. Italy ignored the sanctions, quit the League, made special deals with the United Kingdom and France and ultimately annexed and occupied Abyssinia after it had won the Second Italo-Ethiopian War.
