As an essentially “island” nation, it was of the utmost importance that the United States protect its coastline and its interests with a powerful navy.
Concept note-3: -Alfred Thayer Mahan was a late 19th and early 20th century United States Navy officer, an instructor at the Naval War College, author, and naval historian. He is considered America’s foremost naval strategist, advocating for the expansion of the US fleet and a vigorous foreign policy.
