Concept note-1: -In sum, America’s transformation into a world power resulted from a variety of factors. Some of the most important include: American Imperialism during the late 19th century, increased involvement in global affairs, the booming of American industry, and the general economic strength of the American economy.

Concept note-2: -In 1900 the United States was emerging for the first time as a great world power. As a result of the 1898 war against Spain, the American military reach stretched from Latin America to China. After a half-century of incredible industrialization, the U.S. economic reach stretched around the globe.

Concept note-3: -However, by the end of World War II, the pound could no longer compete. War, decolonization, and declining economic strength abroad dealt a lasting blow to the United Kingdom and ushered in a new era of American dominance in the arena of global influence and economic strength.

Concept note-4: -On August 12, 1898, the United States and Spain reached a cease-fire agreement in its brief conflict over Cuba and the Philippines. The war marked America’s entrance onto the global stage as a military power.

Concept note-5: -Both a desire for new markets for its industrial products and a belief in the racial and cultural superiority of Americans motivated the United States’ imperial mission.
