Concept note-1: -The Spanish-American War lasted only six weeks and resulted in a decisive victory for the United States. Future US president Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt rose to national prominence due to his role in the conflict.

Concept note-2: -The Spanish-American War lasted only about ten weeks in 1898. However, the war had far-reaching effects for both the United States and Spain.

Concept note-3: -THE SPANISH-AMERICAN WAR in 1898 was America’s shortest war lasting just 10 weeks. Fought between The United States and Spain, it was sparked by the sinking of the battleship, USS Maine in Havana harbor in Cuba.

Concept note-4: -The war officially ended four months later, when the U.S. and Spanish governments signed the Treaty of Paris on December 10, 1898. Apart from guaranteeing the independence of Cuba, the treaty also forced Spain to cede Guam and Puerto Rico to the United States.

Concept note-5: -The Treaty of Paris ending the Spanish-American War was signed on December 10, 1898. In it, Spain renounced all claim to Cuba, ceded Guam and Puerto Rico to the United States and transferred sovereignty over the Philippines to the United States for $20 million.
