EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -The Americans moved their captive to Bagram air base in Afghanistan for medical treatment and interrogation before transferring him in October 2002 to the notorious prison at the U.S. naval base at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. Khadr had just turned 16 and was one of the youngest prisoners ever held at Guantánamo.

Concept note-2: -Guantanamo Bay detention camp was built in 2002 on the coast of Guantanamo Bay in southeastern Cuba. After 9/11, US forces entered suspected houses in multiple countries and detained people from different nations who were then secretly taken to the Guantanamo Bay detention camp. Q.

Concept note-3: -At home and around the world, Guantánamo has become a symbol of injustice, abuse, and disregard for the rule of law. Since the prison camp opened in 2002, almost 800 men have passed through its cells. In addition to unlawful detention, many were subjected to torture and other brutal treatment.

Concept note-4: -The detention camp has been open for 20 years, with detainees first sent there months after the 9/11 attacks. The U.S. Navy base where it is situated is much older-first built in 1903-and at least since World War II, it has been known by a snappy military label: “Gitmo.”
