Concept note-1: -The Panama Canal serves more than 145 of the world’s trade routes and the majority of canal traffic comes from the all-water route.

Concept note-2: -The Panama Canal (PC) is the shortest operative route connecting maritime trade between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. It is also the shortest passage for gas cargoes from the Gulf of Mexico to Northern Asia (Rodrigue 2015).
