Concept note-1: -Both a desire for new markets for its industrial products and a belief in the racial and cultural superiority of Americans motivated the United States’ imperial mission.

Concept note-2: -The four major motives for imperialism are economic, strategic, religious and political. These motives helped great empires expand their territory and brought new cultures and languages to both the colonised countries and the countries colonising them.

Concept note-3: -Historical Territories of the U.S. The first significant territorial expansion took place after the Spanish-American War of 1898, where the United States complemented its already held possession with new lands in Cuba, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Guam, and the Philippines.
