Concept note-1: -Manifest Destiny was the idea that white Americans were divinely ordained to settle the entire continent of North America.

Concept note-2: -Manifest Destiny, a phrase coined in 1845, is the idea that the United States is destined-by God, its advocates believed-to expand its dominion and spread democracy and capitalism across the entire North American continent.

Concept note-3: -Both sought to dominate and control a region without its inhabitant’s permission. While Manifest Destiny sought to ethnically cleanse a group from the region in order to take its land, European Imperialism was often content to leave them in place but fully control them and their economy.

Concept note-4: -The idea of Manifest Destiny arose in response to the prospect of U.S. annexation of Texas and to a dispute with Britain over the Oregon Country, which became part of the union.
