EXPLANATIONS BELOW
Concept note-1: -Alexander Graham Bell did not think he was inventing a ‘telephone’ during his early experiments. He was working on the holy grail of the day: sending multiple telegraph messages over the same wire. He aimed to make electro-mechanical devices capable of transmitting and receiving different tones for each message.
Concept note-2: -He also worked in medical research and invented techniques for teaching speech to the deaf. Bell’s extensive range of genius included patents for the telephone and telegraph, the photophone, aerial vehicles, and hydro-planes.
Concept note-3: -Bell’s mother was deaf, and his father and grandfather were famous in England for their work in a field of speech development called elocution. This inspired Bell to study speech and communication as well.
