Concept note-1: -Alvin York is a celebrated chapter in Army history. Though he tried to avoid war for religious reasons, York became one of the most notable heroes of World War I for his actions in October 1918. He helped capture over 100 Germans in a mission that could have ended in total failure.
Concept note-2: -Alvin York was one of the most decorated American soldiers in World War I. He was awarded a Medal of Honor and a French Croix de Guerre for taking a German machine gun nest and assisting in the capture of 132 German soldiers.
Concept note-3: -York then gunned down a group of six German soldiers who charged him with bayonets. This incredible display of deadly skill compelled the German commander of the machine guns to surrender the rest of his men.
