Concept note-1: -Air Raid On Pearl Harbor On December 7, 1941, Japanese planes attacked the United States Naval Base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii Territory, killing more than 2, 300 Americans. The U.S.S. Arizona was completely destroyed and the U.S.S. Oklahoma capsized.

Concept note-2: -On December 7, 1941, the Japanese military launched a surprise attack on the United States Naval Base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Since early 1941 the U.S. had been supplying Great Britain in its fight against the Nazis. It had also been pressuring Japan to halt its military expansion in Asia and the Pacific.

Concept note-3: -On that Sunday morning, many military personnel were attending off-base services, leaving the ships in the harbor understaffed in the event of an emergency. By deciding to attack on a Sunday, Japan had knowingly chosen a day where the United States would not be at full strength.

Concept note-4: -On Dec 7, 1941, the USS West Virginia was sunk by six torpedoes and two bombs, killing 106 crew members.
