Concept note-1: -Militarism is the belief or the desire of a government or a people that a state should maintain a strong military capability and to use it aggressively to expand national interests and/or values.
Concept note-2: -Defining militarism Not surprisingly, this leads to significant increases in defence and arms spending. Late 19th and early 20th-century militarism fuelled an arms race that gave rise to new military technologies and increased defence spending. Militarism also shaped culture, the press and public opinion.
Concept note-3: -These include : high levels of military expenditure; the militarisation of domestic social relations; the use of force in international relations; and the nuclear arms race. Each of the different aspects ofmilitarism arises in an organic way from major conflicts in the modern world.
