Concept note-1: -On March 11–13, 1938, Nazi Germany annexed the neighboring country of Austria. This event is known as the Anschluss. The Anschluss was the Nazi German regime’s first act of territorial aggression and expansion.

Concept note-2: -German troops march into Austria On the morning of 12 March 1938, the 8th Army of the German Wehrmacht crossed the border into Austria. The troops were greeted by cheering Austrians with Nazi salutes, Nazi flags, and flowers. For the Wehrmacht, the invasion was the first big test of its machinery.

Concept note-3: -On March 12, 1938, German troops march into Austria to annex the German-speaking nation for the Third Reich. In early 1938, Austrian Nazis conspired for the second time in four years to seize the Austrian government by force and unite their nation with Nazi Germany.

Concept note-4: -The next day, March 12, 1938, German troops entered Austria, and one day later, Austria was incorporated into Germany. This union, known as the Anschluss, received the enthusiastic support of most of the Austrian population and was retroactively approved via a plebiscite in April 1938.

Concept note-5: -On March 12, 1938, German troops marched into Austria and the country was incorporated into the German Reich. After the end of World War II in 1945, Austria was restored to its 1937 frontiers and occupied by the victorious allies – the USA, the Soviet Union, the UK, and France – for a decade.
