EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -How did war bonds, victory gardens, & scrap drives impact the war effort? They provided needed supplies for the troops. They convinced people to work in war factories. They caused anti-war rallys.

Concept note-2: -As a result, citizens participated in scrap drives to collect materials for the war effort. They recycled scrap metal (for bombs, ammunition, tanks, guns and battleships), rubber (for gas masks, life rafts, cars and bombers), paper, fats and tin.

Concept note-3: -A war bond is a debt instrument issued by a government as a means of borrowing money to finance its defense initiatives and military efforts during times of war. A war bond is essentially a loan to a government.

Concept note-4: -President Roosevelt settled on two major means of raising money: increased taxes and borrowing, through the sale of massive amounts of war bonds. Besides paying for the enormous costs of war, these measures would remove excess wages and other spendable money in a time of shortages, helping to keep a lid on inflation.

Concept note-5: -During World War II scrap drives were a popular way for everyone to contribute to the war effort. By recycling unused or unwanted metal for example, the government could build ships, airplanes and other equipment needed to fight the war.
