Concept note-1: -Kamikaze attacks were a Japanese suicide bombing tactic designed to destroy enemy warships during World War II. Pilots would crash their specially made planes directly into Allied ships. On October 25, 1944, the Empire of Japan employed kamikaze bombers for the first time.

Concept note-2: -The name, Kamikaze, means Heavenly, or Divine, Wind. The name was resurrected from Japanese history stemming from the 16th Century tale of a Mongol emperor whose fleet was sunk or turned by “the gods” who sent a heavenly wind.

Concept note-3: -Most people in Western culture believe the word kamikaze was the name used by the Japanese military for pilots, but that is not true. Their correct name was tokubetsu kōgeki tai (), which literally means “special attack team.” This is usually abbreviated tokkōtai () in a shortened form.
