Concept note-1: -Some senators who opposed the Treaty of Versailles believed the proposed League of Nations would infringe upon U.S. sovereignty and Congress’s power to declare war.

Concept note-2: -On February 28, 1919, Senator Henry Cabot Lodge of Massachusetts began an assault on President Woodrow Wilson’s proposal to establish a League of Nations that ultimately culminated in the Senate’s rejection of the Treaty of Versailles.

Concept note-3: -The big victory of Republican Warren G. Harding in 1920 was widely viewed as a vote against American membership in the League of Nations. Woodrow Wilson attempted to change the world by promoting such principles as self-determination, disarmament, and the cooperation of nations to preserve the peace.

Concept note-4: -With the League of Nations, Woodrow Wilson will help ensure that the world will live in peace. If all the nations of the world work together, then they will have no reason to fight again. The League of Nations and the Treaty of Versailles will put an end to this ugly and terrible war.
