EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -In 1961 the US government put Jupiter nuclear missiles in Italy and Turkey, and attempted to invade Cuba. Starting in November of that year the US government engaged in a campaign of terrorism and sabotage in Cuba, referred to as the Cuban Project, which continued throughout the first half of the 1960s.

Concept note-2: -After many long and difficult meetings, Kennedy decided to place a naval blockade, or a ring of ships, around Cuba. The aim of this “quarantine, ” as he called it, was to prevent the Soviets from bringing in more military supplies. He demanded the removal of the missiles already there and the destruction of the sites.

Concept note-3: -The crisis ended peacefully on Oct. 28 when the Soviets began to dismantle their missile sites. In November, Kennedy called off the blockade. By year’s end, the missiles had left Cuba.
