EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -Wilson’s Fourteen Points were based on a major idea-the principle of self-determination, under which nationalities would have their own states. The members of a nationality or ethnic group share a cultural heritage, often associated with the place of its members’ birth or descent.

Concept note-2: -First, a state is said to have the right of self-determination in the sense of having the right to choose freely its political, economic, social, and cultural systems.

Concept note-3: -Wilson’s 14 Points were designed to undermine the Central Powers’ will to continue, and to inspire the Allies to victory. The 14 Points were broadcast throughout the world and were showered from rockets and shells behind the enemy’s lines.

Concept note-4: -Self-determination for the peoples of Eastern Europe was point 10 of Wilson’s Fourteen Points. Also, points 5 (colonies), 7 (Belgium), 12 (Turkish empire) and 13 (Poland) promised self-determination, by which he meant the right of nations to rule themselves.
