Concept note-1: -At Yalta, Stalin agreed to Soviet participation in the United Nations, the international peacekeeping organization that Roosevelt and Churchill had agreed to form in 1941 as part of the Atlantic Charter.

Concept note-2: -At Yalta, “the Big Three” also agreed that “a Conference of the United Nations should be called to meet at San Francisco in the United States on 25th April, 1945, to prepare the charter of such an organization, ” proposed a Security Council for the future United Nations, and outlined voting procedures.

Concept note-3: -Roosevelt also sought to convince the public that an international organization was the best means to prevent future wars. The Senate approved the UN Charter on July 28, 1945, by a vote of 89 to 2. The United Nations came into existence on October 24, 1945, after 29 nations had ratified the Charter.

Concept note-4: -The Yalta Conference, in February 1945, was fairly successful. Churchill, Roosevelt, and Stalin agreed on a number of things: They would join the United Nations Organization.

Concept note-5: -After much negotiation, the following outcomes of the Yalta Conference emerged: Unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany, the division of Germany and Berlin into four occupational zones controlled by the United States, Great Britain, France and the Soviet Union.
