Concept note-2: -These posters produced during World War II were a powerful instrument for promoting the war aims of the U.S. government. The intent of the design and themes of the posters was to appeal to Americans’ emotions in order to catapult the nation to action.

Concept note-3: -Many Americans supported the war effort by purchasing war bonds. Women replaced men in sports leagues, orchestras and community institutions. Americans grew 60% of the produce they consumed in “Victory Gardens”. The war effort on the United States Home Front was a total effort.

Concept note-4: -Food, gas and clothing were rationed. Communities conducted scrap metal drives and planted “victory gardens.” To help build the armaments necessary to win the war, women and Blacks found employment as electricians, welders and riveters in defense plants.
