Concept note-1: -Delegates signed the Treaty of Versailles in the former palace’s famous Hall of Mirrors, ending World War I. On June 28, 1919, the Treaty of Versailles was signed at the Palace of Versailles outside Paris, France.

Concept note-2: -The first, and most significant, was the Treaty of Versailles, signed on June 28, 1919.

Concept note-3: -Germany had formally surrendered on November 11, 1918, and all nations had agreed to stop fighting while the terms of peace were negotiated. On June 28, 1919, Germany and the Allied Nations (including Britain, France, Italy and Russia) signed the Treaty of Versailles, formally ending the war.

Concept note-4: -The Treaty of Versailles held Germany responsible for starting the war and imposed harsh penalties on the Germans, including loss of territory, massive reparations payments and demilitarization.
