What does it mean to ration something?

(A) To give unlimited quantities of something.

(B) ** To limit the amount of a certain goods people may have during a time of shortage.

Concept note-1: -Rationing involves the controlled distribution of a scarce good or service. An individual might be allotted a certain amount of food per week, for example, or households might be allowed to water their lawns only on certain days.

Concept note-2: -Definition: Rationing refers to an artificial control on the distribution of scarce resources, food items, industrial production, etc.

Concept note-3: -When you ration your supplies, you dole them out a little at a time. A ration is also a wartime military meal, or the portion of food that someone is allowed in times of scarcity. A ration is the fixed portion of food or other goods allowed to each person in times of shortages.

Concept note-4: -Rationing involved setting limits on purchasing certain high-demand items. The government issued a number of “points” to each person, even babies, which had to be turned in along with money to purchase goods made with restricted items.
