Concept note-1: -Blitzkrieg, meaning ‘Lightning War’, was the method of offensive warfare responsible for Nazi Germany’s military successes in the early years of the Second World War.
Concept note-2: -The primary objective of the German forces was to compel Britain to agree to a negotiated peace settlement. In July 1940, the air and sea blockade began, with the Luftwaffe mainly targeting coastal-shipping convoys, as well as ports and shipping centres such as Portsmouth.
Concept note-3: -The Conflict Grinds Along: Facing a war on two fronts, Germany had developed a battle strategy known as the SCHLIEFFEN PLAN, named after its designer, General Alfred Graf von Schlieffen.
