Concept note-1: -Indelibly tied to Americans, “Doughboys” became the most enduring nickname for the troops of General John Pershing’s American Expeditionary Forces, who traversed the Atlantic to join war weary Allied armies fighting on the Western Front in World War I .
Concept note-2: -Mencken claimed the nickname could be traced to Continental Army soldiers who kept the piping on their uniforms white through the application of clay. When the troops got rained on the clay on their uniforms turned into “doughy blobs, ” supposedly leading to the doughboy moniker.
Concept note-3: -History of the Pillsbury Doughboy The character was named Poppin’ Fresh-a nod to the product’s quality and freshness. Perz came up with the idea while testing out Pillsbury dough in his own kitchen.
