Concept note-1: -The WPB ensured that each factory received materials it needed to operate, in order to produce the most war goods in the shortest time. From 1942 to 1945 the WPB directed the production of $185 billion worth of armament and supplies.

Concept note-2: -Nelson’s WPB got the authority to commandeer materials and prioritize their use, force the conversion and expansion of factories, and ban the production of “nonessential” goods. Soon, items such as refrigerators, bicycles and waffle irons were largely out of production for the duration of the war.

Concept note-3: -Its purpose was to regulate the production and distribution of materials during World War II in the United States and to convert peacetime industries to meet the demands of war.

Concept note-4: -The WPB directed conversion of companies engaged in activities relevant to war from peacetime work to war needs, allocated scarce materials, established priorities in the distribution of materials and services, and prohibited nonessential production.
