Concept note-1: -The main event of Militarism causing World War one was the naval rivalry which was made after 1900. Britain had the most powerful navy in the world. The new Keiser Wilhelm announced his intention to build a bigger German navy than Britain. Britain felt very threatened by this.
Concept note-2: -The assassination of Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand (June 28, 1914) was the main catalyst for the start of the Great War (World War I).
Concept note-3: -M Militarism-this was where countries built up their armies. Each country tried to compete to build the biggest army. This created a lot of rivalry and tension and it made countries suspicious of each other. They wanted to test their armies and prove they were the best in a war.
Concept note-4: -Militarism denoted a rise in military expenditure, an increase in military and naval forces, more influence of the military men upon the policies of the civilian government, and a preference for force as a solution to problems. Militarism was one of the main causes of the First World War.
Concept note-5: -What caused militarism to spread throughout Europe? Militarism created an escalating cycle. When one country expanded their military force, neighboring countries felt threatened and immediately began to increase their military strength. This paranoia caused a steady build-up of armed forces across Europe.
