Concept note-1: -The United States never ratified the Versailles treaty and made a separate peace treaty with Germany.

Concept note-3: -In addition, France, England, and the United States wanted to prevent Germany from becoming strong enough to start a new war. They allowed Germany to keep only a small army. Rally against the Treaty of Versailles. Berlin, 1919.

Concept note-4: -The opposition came from two groups: the “Irreconcilables, ” who refused to join the League of Nations under any circumstances, and “Reservationists, ” led by Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman, Henry Cabot Lodge, who were willing to ratify the treaty with amendments.

Concept note-5: -The prominent players of this treaty were those countries that won the First World War, UK, US, Italy, Japan and France. But the defeated powers like Germany, Austria and Turkey were not invited to the conference. Russia, which stayed away from the war after the revolution, was not invited too.
