EXPLANATIONS BELOW
Concept note-1: -Germany was not the part of Allied powers in the First World War. On June 28’ 1919, the Treaty of Versailles concluded the war listed 27 “Allied and Associated powers”. Portugal and Japan were allied by the treaty of Britain and Italy were allied by the treaty of London on April 26’ 1915 with all the three powers.
Concept note-2: -Only 14 countries remained officially neutral throughout the entire war. They included Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Turkey, Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan as well as the microstates of Andorra, Monaco, Liechtenstein, San Marino and Vatican City.
Concept note-3: -The three principal partners in the Axis alliance were Germany, Italy, and Japan. These three countries recognized German and Italian dominance in continental Europe, as well as Japanese domination over East Asia.
Concept note-4: -The main Allied powers were Great Britain, The United States, China, and the Soviet Union.
