Why did the United States join the Allied Powers?

(A) They had no interest in any of the countries on the Central Powers side.

(B) They were closer to the Allies physically and they could attack them.

(C) They believed in the reasons the Allies were fighting

(D) ** They were closely tied to Great Britain and the Germans attacked their citizens

EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -On April 2, President Wilson asked Congress to declare war against Germany specifically citing Germany’s renewed submarine policy as “a war against mankind. It is a war against all nations.” He also spoke about German spying inside the U.S. and the treachery of the Zimmermann Telegram.

Concept note-2: -Larger historical forces eventually brought the United States to the brink of World War II, but the direct and immediate cause that led it to officially entering the war was the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

Concept note-3: -The Allied invasion of French North Africa in November 1942 was intended to draw Axis forces away from the Eastern Front, thus relieving pressure on the hard-pressed Soviet Union.
