Why was the Battle of Midway the turning point in the Pacific War?

Concept note-1: -The Americans lost one carrier, the Yorktown and 307 men. The Battle of Midway was a major turning point in the Pacific theater, shifting the initiative from the Japanese to the Americans, allowing the U.S. to launch the attack on Guadalcanal.

Concept note-2: -The battle marked the first major US victory against Japan and was a turning point in the war. By shifting the balance of naval power in the Pacific, Midway allowed US forces to take the offensive for the first time.
