EXPLANATIONS BELOW

Concept note-1: -What is the significance of the Battle of Stalingrad? The Battle of Stalingrad is considered to be one of the greatest battles of World War II. It marked a turning point in the war and significantly weakened Germany’s military forces.

Concept note-2: -The battle for the city of Stalingrad proved a decisive psychological turning point, ending a string of German victories in the summer of 1942 and beginning the long retreat westward.

Concept note-3: -The battle took place when Germany and its allies sought control over this city in Southern Russia. The Germans targeted Stalingrad because of its industrial capacities and because of its proximity to the Volga River, which would allow German forces to cut off sources of trade and military deployment.

Concept note-4: -The battle of Stalingrad is one of the most important battles in all of World War two for two reasons. It halted the German offensive, and it laid the foundation for future Russian victories. Without Stalingrad, the Russians would have had no hope for World War two, and had to have been defeated by the Nazi army.
